Clair Sauer: owner, operator, pal
Born and raised in Philadelphia, attended
West Chester University for biology/education
(BSEd and MEd) but needed something more.
So off to Japan she went. A melee of travel,
bike races, mountain climbing, and husband
meeting (Baba and Clair met while she was in
Japan) later ... Clair was a high school science
teacher for 8 years!, after calling it quits,
decided to take over a friend's pet care
business and follow her true passion, her love
of animals. Thus, Paws & Pals was born. She
is a proud mama of Ume and Kai (right) and 3 lovely lady
bunnies (Usagi, Vela, and Girard). Who live in a tiny
house in South Philly with her very understanding
husband Baba. They also have a regime of stray kitties in
their back yard that they have taken under their wing. She has
worked with animals of all types in a professional capacity
since high school at the Academy of Natural Sciences
(where she currently teaches part time),volunteering at
local shelters, and through various pet care experiences.
She loves being outdoors; camping, hiking, biking, gardening, and having a chance to have her paws go with her. And yours! She hopes to attend a vet tech program soon to increase her knowledge of how these crazy paws work. She loves working with rescued pit bulls and promoting responsible ownership. Her current plan is to focus on exercise physiology and nutrition in her course work and incorporate them into Paws & Pals to promote healthier, happier urban paws. She is also training in weight pull methods to vary the exercise experiences that Paws & Pals offers, and to offer it to local shelters.
